Planning a Belize snorkeling trip? If you want to catch the really good stuff then you need to plan your snorkel trip at the right times (unless you want to snorkel in the middle of a hurricane!) We’ve got you sorted. Here are the best times to go snorkelling in Belize.

Belize seasons

Belize has two main seasons, the dry season and the rainy season. The weather is warm pretty much all year, but it will slightly cool down during the rainy season.

  • The dry season in Belize is from late November to early April,
  • The Belize rainy season is from June to early November.

Belize rainy season

Rainy season in Belize is intense, with lots of tropical storms and even hurricanes. As you can imagine, this isn’t a good setting for that peaceful snorkel trip you dreamed about. Peak rainy season is from August to October, and you can bet on heavy rains almost everyday – though they rarely last longer than an hour at a time.

Belize dry season

You’ll be dealing with lots of crowds and high prices, but the dry season is when you want to hit the waters in Belize. Calm, clear skies and warm water, you’ll get to trade crowded beaches for excellent visibility.

Best time to snorkel in Belize:

March and April for great weather and less crowds.

When not to snorkel in Belize:

June to November.

Protip: During the end of April and early May, you might be able to spot migrating whale sharks while snorkeling. There’ll be special snorkel excursions to take you to the spots where they feed on jack and snapper.
